A. leap, rush upon, of warriors, οὔτασε . . μετάλμενος ὀξέϊ δουρί Il. 5.336; οὔτασε δουρὶ μ. 14.443; Τρώεσσι μ. ἐν φόβον ὦρσε 13.362; of a lion, ἥρπαξε μ. 12.305, cf. Hld. 10.30.

2. rush after, in a race, οὐκ ἔσθ’ ὅς κέ σ’ ἕλησι μ. Il. 23.345.

II. leap from one ship to another in a sea-fight, ἐς ἀλλήλους App. BC 5.120; spring from side to side, hither and thither, τᾷ καὶ τᾷ τὸν Ἔρωτα μετάλμενον Bion Fr. 10.6, cf. Hld. 6.14, Them. Or. 22.269c.
