A. causing to die away, μ. πυρός, opp. σβέσις, Arist. Juv. 469b22, cf. Resp. 474b20; of the sun's action on wind, Id. Mete. 361b21.
II. dying or fading away, ib.372b19 (pl.); μαράνσει τὸν βίον ἐκλείπειν Id. Pr. 871b17; διὰ μαράνσεως καὶ λήθης Porph. Abst. 1.32.
