κικκαβαῦ

A. cry in imitation of the screech-owl's note, Ar. Av. 261: κικκάβη, ἡ, screech-owl, Sch.adloc.; cf. κικκάμη, noctua, Gloss.:—hence κικκαβάζω (‐ίζω Phot.), shriek like a screech-owl, cj. Dobree for κακκ- in Ar. Lys. 761.
