A. make like, φωνὴν ἴσκουσ’ ἀλόχοισιν she made her voice like (the voice of) their wives, Od. 4.279; feign, ἴσκε ψεύδεα πολλὰ λέγων ἐτύμοισιν ὁμοῖα 19.203.
II. think like, ἐμὲ σοὶ ἴσκοντες thinking me like (i.e. taking me for) you, Il. 16.41; σὲ τῷ ἴσκοντες 11.799 (εἴσκ‐ Aristarch.).
2. guess, imagine, ἴσκεν ἕκαστος ἀνήρ Od. 22.31; suppose, c. acc. et inf., Simon. 130.
III. in Alex. Poets, through a misinterpretation of Hom., speak, say, A.R. 2.240,al.: 1 sg. ἴσκον Theoc. 22.167, part. ἴσκων Lyc. 574.
