ἶπος

A. the piece of wood that falls and catches the mouse, Ar. Pl.(815?)ap.Poll. 10.155, Id. 7.41, Eust. 16.40,etc. cf. εἶπος.
2. any weight, fuller's press, Archil. 169; ἶ. ἀνεμόεσσα, of Aetna as the weight which holds Typhoeus down, Pi. O. 4.8; press used in surgery, Hp. Mochl. 38. (Perh. cf. ἴπτομαι.)
