A. to be alone, Hdn. 4.12.7, 7.6.7, D.C. 66.9; ἰδιάζουσαι Herod. 6 tit.; δωμάτιον ἰδιάζον secluded, Hld. 7.12; ἰ. πρός τινα to be alone with . . , ib.25; ἰ. θεῷ to be alone with God, Ph. 1.95; ἰ. πράγματι devote oneself to a thing, Com.Adesp. 414:—so in Med., of members of a chorus, sing independently, Arist. II. to be peculiar, ἰδιάζοντα γένη λίθων Phld. Sign. 28, cf. Jul. Gal. 143a; ἰ. τῇ φύσει D.S. 2.58; ἰδιάζουσα φύσις Id. 3.46, Hld. 2.28; ἰδιάζον συμπόσιον Ath. 1.12a; αἱ ἰδιάζουσαι ἀρχαί special principles, Dam.
