II. later,= ζώνη, a woman's girdle, Paus. 1.31.1: metaph., of the encircling sea, νῆσοι . . , ἃς . . ζ. Αἰγαίου κύματος ἐντὸς ἔχει AP 9.421 (Antip. Thess.); ὠκεανὸς ἀτλαντικὸς ζ. Secund. Sent. 2.
