Il. cc.:—an Arabian spice-plant, the root of which was used in medicine, prob. ginger, Dsc. 2.160, Gal. 6.572, 11.880. (Perh. fr. Malay inchi-ver (inchi = root) through Skt. śṛ[ndot ]gaveram and a Prakrit singaber.)
