II. speaking well, eloquent, AP 14.10.8 (Comp.), Ptol. Tetr. 166; making eloquent, λάγυνος AP 9.229 (Marc.Arg.). Adv. -μως with clear utterance, Ael. NA 4.42: Sup. -ώτατα ib.13.18; melodiously, ib.1.43; ᾖδον Aristaenet. 2.19.

2. like εὔφημος, avoiding words of ill omen, and so, keeping silence, περὶ μὲν τούτων . . μοι . . εὔστομα κείσθω on these things . . let me keep a religious silence, Hdt. 2.171, cf. Ael. NA 14.28, Porph. Abst. 2.36; εὔστομ’ ἔχε peace, be still! S. Ph. 201 (lyr.).

III. pleasant to the mouth, palatable, Thphr. HP 2.6.10 (Comp.),4.3.4, Sor. 1.94, Dsc. 1.110 (Comp.).
