ἐπορθιάζω

A. set upright, ἐ. τὰ ὦτα prick the ears, v.l. in Ph. 2.4 : but mostly of the voice, lift up at or over, ὀλολυγμὸν τῇδε λαμπάδι A. Ag. 29 ; Ἐρινὺν τήνδε δώμασιν ib.1120 : abs., ἐ. γόοις lift up the voice in wailing, Id. Pers. 1050(lyr.).
