ἐπιχωριάζω

1. of persons, to be in the habit of visiting, ἐ. Ἀθήναζε Pl. Phd. 57a ; ἐ. τινί live much with, Luc. Pseudol. 19 ; τοῖς ἄνω πράγμασι to be occupied with, Id. Cont. 1.

2. of things, to be customary, be the fashion in a place, περὶ Ἀθήνας Arist. Pol. 1341a34 ; μαθήματα τοῖς Ἕλλησιν ‐άζοντα Stesimbr. 4J.; παρά τισι Plb. 6.46.3 ; τῇ νήσῳ Str. 10.5.9:—Pass., to be the custom or fashion, v.l. in Arist. Pol. 1335a16 (nisi leg. ‐άζει), cf. Nymphis 9.

3. of vegetables, acquire the local character, Diph. Siph. ap. Ath. 9.369f.

4. of the sea, make an inroad, Polem. Call. 25.

II. Act., call in the language of the country, βροῦτον τὸν μῶρον Lyd. Mag. 1.31 ; also καλεῖν ‐άζοντες Olymp. in Mete. 200.20.
