(Ancient Gramm. derived the word fr. ἀ‐ priv., λιβάς and gave it the meaning dry, withered, cf. Did. ap. Sch.Ar. Ra. 186, Corn. ND 35, Plu. 2.736a; the quantity of the first a is dub.)
