ἐπιστίζω

A. mark with spots on the surface, speckle, Nic. Th. 332; νῶτον ἱμάσθλῃ Nonn. D. 37.410 (s.v.l.):—Pass., to be spotted or speckled, Thphr. HP 3.7.5; τῷ νώτῳ οἱ σημεῖα ἐπέστικται Ael. NA 11.24; to be marked with a dot, ὁ ἐπεστιγμένος Aen.Tact. 31.29.—In Moer.and Hsch., ἐπιστίζω, ‐στιγμα, are for ἐπι‐σίζω, ‐σιγμα.
