b. in sg., mostly, line of battlements, parapet, Il. 12.381,al. (never in Od.); οἱ παρ’ ἔπαλξιν the defenders of the wall, Th. 2.13, cf. 7.28, Ar. Ach. 72: pl., of individual crenellations, Th. 3.21.
