A. to be in one's prime, Ph. 1.33; also of things, Id. 2.434, Aristaenet. 2.1, Hld. 7.8: metaph., come to its height, Luc. Abd. 17, Ath. 1.18e; ἐπήκμασαν οἱ ἐτησίαι were blowing hard, Str. 15.1.17.
II. of persons, flourish in succession to, τινί D.H. Pomp. 4; οἱ ἐπακμάσαντες ib.1; also νέα ἐ. παλαιοῖς, of animals and crops, Ph. 1.28, 2.424.
