as Med., aor. 1 ἐγεινάμην (Aeol. 3 sg. γέννατ’ Alc. Supp. 8.13), in causal sense, beget, ἐγείναο παῖδ’ ἀΐδηλον Il. 5.880, cf. S. Aj. 1172, etc.; more freq. of the mother, bring forth, θεὰ δέ σε γείνατο μήτηρ Il. 1.280, cf. 6.26, Od. 6.25, etc.; οἱ γεινάμενοι the parents, Hdt. 1.120, X.
