ἀτέμβω

A. maltreat, οὐ καλὸν ἀτέμβειν . . ξείνους Τηλεμάχου Od. 20.294, 21.312; afflict, perplex, ἀτέμβει θυμὸν ἐνὶ στήθεσσιν Ἀχαιῶν 2.90:—Pass., c. gen., to be bereft or cheated of a thing, ἀτέμβονται νεότητος they have lost their youth, Il. 23.445; ἀτεμβόμενός γε σιδήρου ib.834; μή τίς οἱ ἀτεμβόμενος κίοι ἴσης 11.705, cf. Od. 9.42.
