II. ἄσσα, Ion. for τινά, Att. ἄττα, something, some, Hom. only once, ὁπποῖ’ ἄσσα what sort, Od. 19.218; πόσ’ ἄττα; Ar. Ra. 173; δείν’ ἄ. ib.925; οἷ’ ἄττα βαΰζει Cratin. 6, etc.: with numerals, δύ’ ἄττα ὀνόματα, τρία ἄττα γένη, Pl. Sph. 255c, Ly. 216d: added to a temporal Conj., πηνίκ’ ἄττα . . ; Ar. Av. 1514, etc. (ἄσσα(ἄττα) arises from false division of groups like ὁποῖά σσα where σσα = τι‐α, neut. pl. of τις, cf. Megarian σά.)
