ἀσκωλιάζω

A. hop on greased wineskins at the Ἀσκώλια, Ar. Pl. 1129 (cf. Sch.).

II. hop on one leg, ἀσκωλιάζειν ῥᾷον ἐπὶ τοῖς ἀριστεροῖς Arist. IA 705b33, cf. Ael. NA 3.13, Plu. 2.621f, Gal. 11.106; also, jump up and down with legs held together, Sch.Orib. 3p.689D. (Signf. 11 may be original and the connexion with ἀσκός due to popular etymology.)
