II. Pass., not to be seen, invisible, πλάκες ἄ., of the nether world, S. OC 1682 (lyr.), cf. E. Hyps.Fr. 57.21 (lyr.).
2. not to be understood, unintelligible, ἔπος A. Ch. 816 (lyr.), cf. S. Ph.IIII (lyr.); πρᾶγος Id. Aj. 21; ἄ. χρόνος unknown time, Id. Tr. 246; unimaginable, ἄ. ἁ λώβα Id. El. 864 (lyr.); bewildering, strange, ἤργασαι δέ μ’ ἄσκοπα ib.1315.
