ἀρτᾶσθαι ἔκ τινος depend upon, Hdt. 3.19, 6.109, al.; ἐξ ὧν ὧλλοι ἀρτέαται Πέρσαι on whom the rest of the Persians depend, i.e. whom they acknowledge as their chiefs, Id. 1.125; so παρρησία ἐξ ἀληθείας ἠρτημένη D. 60.26; ἀπὸ ταὐτοῦ ἠ.
