A. the meed of valour, ἀ. διδόναι τῷ ἀξιωτάτῳ Hdt. 8.123, cf. 124; ἀπαίτεε τοὺς Αἰγινήτας τὰ ἀ. demanded of them the reward (they had received) for prowess, ib.122; τὰ ἀ. τῆς νίκης φέρεσθαι Hp.
