II. metaph. of persons, ἀργυρωθέντες σὺν οἰνηραῖς φιάλαις rewarded with silver wine-cups, Pi. N. 10.43; also ἀοιδαὶ ἀργυρωθεῖσαι πρόσωπα songs with silvered brow, i.e. mercenary, Id. I. 2.8.
