A. strong shoe coming up to the ankle, half-boot, used by country people, hunters, travellers, A. Ag. 944, Fr. 259, E. Or. 1470 (lyr.); πηλοπατίδες ἀ. Hp. Art. 62; αὐταῖσιν ἀρβύλαισιν ἁρμόσας πόδα with shoes and all, E. Hipp. 1189 (wrongly expld. by Eust. as = δίφρος, the stand of the charioteer), cf. Ba. 1134; cf. ἄρμυλα.
