A. hollow in which metal was placed for melting, melting-pot, from which it was run into the mould, φῦσαι δ’ ἐν χοάνοισιν . . ἐφύσων Il. 18.470; κασσίτερος . . ἐν εὑτρήτοις χοάνοισιν θαλφθείς Hes. Th. 863, cf. Emp. 96.1, Hp. Cord. 8, A.R. 3.1299.
