2. covering for the arm, loose sleeve, such as the Persians wore, ἐπικατήμενος χειρίδι πλέῃ(χειρὶ διπλῇ codd.) ἀργυρίου Hdt. 6.72, cf. X. HG 2.1.8, Cyr. 8.3.14, PLips. 40 iii 23 (iv A.D.); used also by the Gauls, Plu. Oth. 6; by tragedians, Luc. JTr. 41.
