A. whither one can flee, or where one can take refuge, ὅθι μοι φάτο φύξιμον εἶναι where she said it was possible for me to escape, Od. 5.359; φ. τόπος Plb. 13.6.9; φύξιμον οὐδέν Id. 9.29.4; ἱερὸν φ. an asylum, Plu. Rom. 9; φ. λιμήν a harbour of refuge, Id. 2.823a: cf. φύξιον.
II. which one can escape; hence, affording a chance of recovery, νοῦσος Hp. Int. 2; avoidable, ἦμαρ Max. 358.
2. which one would flee from, i. e. loathsome, ὀδμή Simon. 250, Nic. Th. 54 (s.v.l.).
III. c. acc., σ’ ἀθανάτων φύξιμος οὐδείς is able to escape thee, S. Ant. 788 (lyr.).
