A. cheat, quack, impostor, Ar. Ra. 909, Heraclit. Ep. 6.3, Porph. Chr. 29, etc.; in Ar. Ach. 89, perhaps with a play on φοῖνιξ (the bird); in Eq. 634 Φένακες are addressed as the tutelary gods of cheats.
