II. Subst. ὑλοτόμος,ὁ, woodcutter, woodman, Il. 23.123, Hes. Op. 807, S. El. 98 (anap.), IG 12.1084.5, Thphr. HP 3.9.3, Gal. 17(2).229, etc.
III. τὸ ὑλότομον either a plant cut in the wood (cf. τέμνω 111), used as a charm; or = worm (cf. φερέοικος), supposed to be the cause of pain in teething (οὐλοτόμοιο may be the right reading), h.Cer. 229.
