A. dropsy, Hp. Aph. 3.22 (pl.), IG 42(1).122.1, 123.33 (Epid., iv B. C.), Epicur. Fr. 190, Sor. 2.37, etc.; ὕ. ξηρός Hp. Aph. 4.11; he distinguishes two kinds, ὁ ὑποσαρκίδιος (v.l. ὑπὸ τῇ σαρκί) and ὁ μετ’ ἐμφυσημάτων, Acut.(Sp.)52.
2. ὕ, εἰς ἀμίδα diabetes, Gal. 7.81.
3. any watery discharge, e.g. discharge before parturition, Arist. HA 587a6, Cleophant. ap. Sor. 2.53; cf. πρόφορος 11.
II. a dropsical person, Hp. Int. 47 (dub. 1.), Epid. 2.5.13— in which sense Dsc. ap. Gal. 19.148 read ὑδρώψ (oxyt.).
