A. good for the health, wholesome, sound, healthy, Hp. Aph. 3.15 (Comp.), 3.9 (Sup.); χωρία ὑ. healthy countries, X. Cyr. 1.6.16, cf. Pl. R. 401c; of food, wholesome, X. Mem. 1.6.5, Pl. Ion 531e, etc.; σιτία ‐ότατα Isoc. 1.45; τὰ ὑ. ὑγίειαν ἐμποιεῖ Pl. R. 444c, etc.; ὕδωρ ὑ. Id. Phlb. 61c.
2. of or relating to health, τέχνη, πραγματεία, etc., Gal. 6.135, 1.301, etc.; τὸ ὑ. Arist. Metaph. 1003a35, 1060b37.
b. of a person, devoted to the preservation of health, a hygienist, τὴν τοιαύτην διάθεσιν ἰατροῦ καὶ οὐχ ὑγιεινοῦ λύειν (sc. ἐστί) Erasistr. ap.Gal. Thras. 38, cf. Gal. 6.77.
3. of persons, healthy, sound, μὴ πάνυ ὑ. φύσει Pl. R. 408e, cf. a; ὑ. σῶμα Id. Lg. 728e; βίος ib.733e, etc.: ὑγιεινόν health, opp. νοσερόν, Arist. Rh. 1355b30.
II. Adv., ‐νῶς ἔχειν, = ὑγιαίνειν, Pl. R. 407c,571d; ὑ. φέρειν τι without injury to health, Hp. Art. 41 (v.l. ὑγιηρῶς); ὑ. ποιεῖν τι from regard to health, Pl. Grg. 522a; but ὑ. βαδίζειν, = ὡς ἂν ὁ ὑγιαίνων, Arist. EN 1129a16: Comp. ‐οτέρως and ‐ρον, X. Lac. 2.5, Mem. 3.13.2: Sup. ‐ότατα ib.4.7.9.
