A. of or for three years, τριέτεα χρόνον Hdt. 1.199; τ. φορά IG 42(1).121.9 (Epid., iv B. C.); πλέον ἢ τ. ἐγένευ φίλος Theoc. 29.17, cf. BCH 48.518 (Palestine); τ. προθεσμία Pl. Lg. 954d (in 793d τρῑ ἔτη is restored by Bekker): τρίετες as Adv., for three years, Od. 2.106, 13.377.
2. three years old, ἵππος Arist. HA 545b13; παιδίον Artem. 4.39: τρίετες,τό, the age of three years, ἀπὸ τριέτους μέχρι τῶν ἓξ ἐτῶν Pl. Lg. 794a, cf. Arist. HA 545b3:—fem. τριετ‐έτις, Supp.Epigr. 6.125 (Cotiaeum).
