II. generally, end, extremity, ῥινῶν ἔσχατα τ. Emp. 100.4, cf. Poll. 2.134; αἶψα δὲ τέρθρον ἵκοντο . . Οὐλύμποιο its summit, h.Merc. 322 (v.l. ἵκοντο κάρηνα).

2. extremity, crisis, in a disease, ἐπὴν τὸ τ. ᾖ τοῦ πάθεος Hp. Mul. 2.125 (v.l. τὸ στερεόν), cf. Erot. and Gal. l.c.: hence, the end, i.e. death, E. Fr. 371. (Cf. τέρμα.)
