A. of or from Tegea, Hdt. 1.65, etc.; then, by a play upon words, of or from a brothel (v. τέγος 111), Diog.Cyn. ap. D.L. 6.61: fem. Τεγεᾶτις, ιδος, (sc. χώρα) the Tegeate country, Th. 5.65:—Adj. Τεγεατικός, Ion. ταχυ‐ητικός, ή, όν, Hdt. 8.124.
