The king comes home from Troy. His wife Clytemnestra is waiting with an axe. Seneca compresses the story into a tight, violent drama — Cassandra's prophecies, Clytemnestra's hesitation and resolve, the murder in the bath. The chorus sings about the fall of Troy while the same destruction unfolds in Argos. Ten years of war and it ends like this.
